Two to the west coast United States e do Canada Temperatures above 450 degrees Celsius were reported on Monday (28) as a result of an unprecedented heat wave.
Checkpoints for Govt-19 and schools had to close their doors to avoid exposing residents to extreme temperatures.
In the Canadian city of Lytton, in British Columbia, Thermometers increased by 46.6º Celsius. According to the Canadian Meteorological Agency, this is the highest temperature ever recorded in the country.
In the United States, the states Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming e California Are under high heat warning. According to the National Weather Service, conditions will remain unhealthy until the end of this week.
“This will be the most intense and lasting heat wave in West Coast history,” an excerpt from the report released Monday said.
To make matters worse, much of the northwestern United States is used to mild temperatures, making air conditioning use unusual among residents of the region.
Local authorities have issued special warnings targeting the elderly, with a section of the population being particularly vulnerable to extreme heat.
