Apple has been accused of exposing an ex-employee to toxic gases in the US

In the reports, EPA agents concluded that Apple may have committed irregularities:

• Illegal disposal of hazardous waste;

• illegal dumping of hazardous waste;
• Storing dangerous chemicals unattended on weekends.

According to the documents, the most serious violation involved a 6,400 liter hazardous waste solvent tank (see photo below). According to the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, the container was not adequately monitored.

According to EPA reports, most of the irregularities have already been resolved since the factory was last inspected in January 2024. However, there are still potential violations listed as “pending” in the agency’s documents.

The former employee has filed dozens of complaints against Apple

This isn’t the first time Ashley has reported Apple. A former employee was fired in 2021 after allegedly leaking confidential company information. However, he denies the allegations.

At the time, Ashley said the firings were the result of Apple retaliation against people who spoke out in the #AppleToo movement. The organization aims to expose forms of racism, sexism, inequality and abuse in the organization.

Currently, there is no word on whether Apple will have to pay any fines for violating the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act. The EPA did not find the company guilty of the alleged gas poisoning.
