Yamaguchi Falcao never achieved his dream of becoming a world boxing champion.
This Saturday (22), Yamaguchi Falcao stepped into the ring to confront David Morel, from Cuba, for the WBA belt, with the dream of being the seventh Brazilian boxer to win the title of world champion in this way.
But the Cuban showed why he is the current middleweight champion and knocked down Yamaguchi in the first round with a series of beautiful blows.
The Brazilian, who accepted the fight at the last minute and had less than 15 days to prepare, was clearly inconsistent and had not the slightest chance against Muriel, who is living the peak of his career – now he has nine wins in nine fights, with eight by knockout, for the Cuban.
From the start, Muriel went all out leaving Yamaguchi confused. When he hit a beautiful cross on the left, the Brazilian staggered and almost fell to the ground. The referee opened the count, but Falcao fought back and tried to get back into the fight.
But a series of blows by Morel ended with the Brazilian unconscious on the canvas, and the Cuban celebrated the maintenance of the belt.
As a result, Yamaguchi Falcao could not put his name next to Eder Jover, Miguel de Oliveira, Bobo, Valdemir Sertão, Rose Volante and Patrick Teixeira, the six world boxing champions.
