With Tite as a target, Flamengo is considering different scenarios for each coach

As we know, Tite has publicly expressed his opposition to starting work again in 2023 in Brazil. He did not treat the country’s clubs as a priority, because he intended to pursue his career abroad. For his part, it is not entirely clear whether, with a project focused on 2024, he would accept to start work now at Flamengo.

While focusing on the 2023 Brazilian Championship, Flamengo is working on alternatives that are being dealt with confidentially. There is no negotiation. But drawing maps and even talking about Plan D if necessary. But it is clear that Tite is the primary target and there will be no movement in the other direction unless it fails.

The need for a coach for this season explains why the year has not ended for Flamengo, despite prevailing perceptions in this regard after losing the Brazilian Cup title.

Let’s remember that in the Italian League, the team is in seventh place, and therefore outside the Libertadores classification zone. If it is not physically possible to win the Brazilian Championship, which is already very difficult, then being excluded from the continental competition would be a sporting and financial disaster.

Even after being eliminated in the round of 16, the team earned more than R$35 million in the Libertadores, between trophies and box office. The budget goal for the last three years has been to reach the semi-finals of the competition, which generates revenues of around R$80 million if we take the example of 2022. Therefore, the work of the Board of Directors is intense to urgently fill the gap left by the departure of Jorge Sampaoli.
