The meetings, all held virtually, will end on Tuesday. In it, the North American citizen, having already conducted a preliminary survey, will formalize the numbers, listen to the demands and will make a proposal to the chosen person.
Three professionals on the agenda: Spaniard Quique Setien, who has already been reported by geThe Portuguese Pedro Martinez, the current coach of Al-Gharafa, is from Qatar, according to what was reported by the newspaper O Globo, and a coach whose name is still unknown.
Botafogo's initial expectation was that the coach's issue would be resolved by the end of FIFA's declarations, which end on Tuesday. All the profiles searched by Textor have common characteristics: attacking game profile and ball possession estimation in a 4-3-3 formation.
More than factors within the four lines, the North American is also looking for a professional capable of leading the club's sporting project, and having an impact on the game offered by the youth categories, for example.
Although no decision has been made yet, Textor has not put any names at the “top.” For him, the interview part will be key – both tactically, to find out what the leaders expect from Brazilian football, and the financial part, after all, Alvinegro does not intend to pay salaries in European numbers to professionals.
Pedro Martinez, due to language problems, beats Quique Setien, but it is not possible to guarantee a favorite. Even with a third name, Tuesday will be decisive.
Quique Setien began his coaching career at Racing Santander in 2001. He then played for Pole Ejido, Equatorial Guinea national team, Logrones, Lugo, Las Palmas, Real Betis, Barcelona and Villarreal.
Pedro Martins, in turn, began his career in lower-tier teams in Portugal until arriving at Maritimo in 2010. From there, he coached Rio Ave, Vitoria de Guimarães, Olympiacos and Al-Gharafa.
