WhatsApp may soon allow its users to send photos in original quality, according to the WABetaInfo website, which posts information about beta versions of the app.
According to the website, the functionality was discovered in a code snippet for the next version of WhatsApp beta, which is still under development. Even registered testers cannot access this stage of the application. Tweet information from last Thursday (19).
Wanted, WhatsApp said it does not comment on the rumours.
Today, the messaging app allows those who use the app to choose whether they want to receive photos in a higher resolution or to save space — there’s also an automatic option, where the algorithm chooses the most appropriate option depending on the size of the photo. All of it, however, with a certain degree of pressure.
The loss of quality is justified by the increased file transfer speed.
According to WABetaInfo, the feature will be called Image Quality and will be close to the drawing and image editing tools available during file upload.
Contrary to what was recorded during the launch of the quality control setting, the code does not say whether the supposed new function will also work with videos.
Today, it is possible to send photos and videos in their original quality when you select the option to forward documents, although they can no longer be viewed in the app.
Learn how to receive higher quality photos:
- Access WhatsApp settings
- Go to the “Storage & Data” tab
- Click on “Image Quality”
- Select “high quality”
