Twitter users have reported receiving the function to save time when playing audio messages in the Android app. However, none of those who mentioned say they own an iOS device.
Posts about the new feature began appearing on Wednesday (21). A user on Twitter said: “WhatsApp has put the function of boosting the volume up to 2x”. Another internet user reported: “Now you can speed up the sound on WhatsApp.”
The new functionality appears as a tick below the audio media that the user receives. In this space, it displays audio playback speed and three acceleration options: 1x, 1.5x, and 2x.
According to all the information obtained so far, it is not yet known if the tool is only available for Android. Additionally, it is still not known if the feature was only released to users of the Test Suite (Beta), or also in a recent platform update.
With the new functionality, WhatsApp is close to Telegram, which also has a similar feature. In 2018, the application was updated with the option to accelerate the playback speed of voice messages by 2x, which is very different from WAPP which offers three options in the same category.
