Buffett was born on August 30, 1930 in Omaha, Nebraska, in the United States. He is the majority shareholder, chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway. It is a multinational company covering property and casualty insurance, utilities and energy, rail freight, finance, manufacturing, retail and services.

The investment firm Buffett Partnership Ltd. was created. In 1956 it ended up acquiring the textile manufacturer, Berkshire Hathaway, which took its name to create a well-diversified holding company. Buffett became president and majority shareholder of the company in 1970. In 1978, fellow investor and longtime business partner Charlie Munger joined Buffett as vice president. The group’s companies include insurance company Geico, battery manufacturer Duracell, and American restaurant chain Dairy Queen, as well as more than 20 newspapers in the United States.

Warren Buffett has pledged to donate more than 99% of his wealth. He has given away more than $56 billion so far, most of it through the Gates Foundation and his children’s foundations, according to Forbes.
