Wales may change its name to Cymru from 2023

“The team should always be called Cymru, which is what we call it here,” explained Noel Mooney, CEO of the association.
“Our view at the moment is that, in our territory, people clearly refer to us as Cymru. That is what we call our national teams. If you look at Site Officially and the way we talk about ourselves, we’re totally going through.”
“Internationally, we think we still have to work more on this. Therefore, we will compete in the 2022 Cup with Wales. But I think 2023 will be the year when we expand discussions with all the parties involved,” he added.
The issue was brought into focus earlier this month, when Wales was included in the same group he belonged to turkey for the 2024 European Championship qualifiers.
