Volta por Cima debuts with a showcase of Melhem Cortaz and the good chemistry between the good guys · TV News

Globo’s new series, Volta por Cima, premiered on Monday (30) with a well-constructed first act, which did the job of introducing its main essence and creating a love-hate relationship – and full of chemistry – between the two worlds. The good guys are Mada (Jessica Ellen) and Gao (Faricio Polivera). What’s more, the series really knew how to take advantage of the versatility of Melhem Cortaz, who stole the show as the rogue Osmar.

Not that the 52-year-old actor’s talent is in doubt, but it’s hard to believe that Mada’s free-spirited uncle is played by the same translator played by Wando, from Others, from MP Joubert, from The Seventh Guardian (2018), or even from Bomani from The Ten Commandments (2015).

Cortaz shines in every moment he appears in the series, whether “preparing” breakfast for the girl’s family, or in the clumsy kissing scenes with Violeta (Isabel Teixeira), or escaping from Paiceño’s henchmen (Rodrigo García).

Interestingly, it was the actor who found the courage and asked author Claudia Soto for a character in the new series. “I don’t think anyone would ever invite me to do a TV series at 7 p.m., because I only play dense characters. I said, ‘You know what?’ “I will write to Claudia.” My mother told me. Long ago: “The winner of the 21st century is the one who has the humility who knows how to ask,” he told the president. TV news.

Claudia also manages to give a good presentation of the love square formed by Mada, Gao, Chico (Amurri Lorenzo) and Roxelle (Isadora Cruz) – the latter, in fact, also does not resemble Kanduka in Mar do Sertão (2022). A positive point for the actress from Paraiba.

The two leads do not fall into the clichés of love at first sight that plague Globo’s latest series. After all, if the good guys already love each other from the beginning, it becomes difficult to create conflicts to keep them apart – a drama Claudia Soto has already witnessed first-hand in Pega Pega (2017).

Of course, the audience already knows that the two will end up together, but it’s interesting to see two people who are supposed to hate each other realize that they have more in common than they realize, and little by little give in to feelings. They try to refute.

Moreover, the author knew how to combine the characteristic humor of the track with moments of tension – after feeling ill for a few moments, Lindomar (MV Bill) faints in the final moments of the chapter, leaving all the passengers on his bus (including Mada) in the hands of the hero Gao , who took command to try to avert the tragedy.

It was a good start to a plot that should be part of the Brazilians’ routine until the second quarter of next year. If Volta por Cima maintains the pace of its debut, it has all the ingredients for success.
