Villa Nova announces the departure of coach Marquinhos Santos | New village

Coach Marquinhos Santos’ time at Villa Nova lasted just eight matches. The Colorado Board of Directors dismissed the coach after Tigrao’s defeat against Sampaio Correa, last Tuesday, in the 29th round of the second division.

In addition to the coach, assistant Edison Borges is also leaving the club. Tigre has not yet announced the identity of the team that will lead the next match, ten days later, at home to Chapecoense. Marquinhos Santos arrived to make the team react after a decline in performance with Claudini Oliveira, currently at Xavi and who came to lead the Brazilian championship.

The start was good: in the first three matches, Marquinhos Santos recorded two wins and a draw. However, Villa Nova accumulated bad results and poor performance in the last rounds and lost contact with the group of four.

In total, Marquinhos Santos has recorded three wins, two draws and three defeats – a success rate of 45%.

Villa Nova is in seventh place in Series B with 46 points and may lose contact with the G-4 teams. All rivals will still play in Round 29, including Atlético-GO, who can overtake Villa Nova in the standings.

Tigrao’s next match will be next September 30 at home against Chapecoense. The board of directors is considering moving the match from Unicio Brasileiro Alvarenga Stadium to Serra Dorada.
