‘Vale Tudo’ has already been remade in America starring Antonio Fagundes and ‘Maria do Bairro’. Discover interesting facts

Brazilian TV drama classic “Vale Tudo” will get a remake in 2025. However, this won’t be the first new version of the soap opera. In 2002, American Spanish-language network Telemundo, in collaboration with Globo, launched “Vale Todo”, an adaptation of the work by Gilberto Braga, Aguinaldo Silva and Leonor Passeres.

The production consisted of 100 episodes and was written by Yves Dumont, with general direction by Wolff Maya. The story, like the original, takes place in Rio de Janeiro, but is told entirely in Spanish.

The interpreter of Honest Ivan in the original version, Antonio Facundez took part in the American remake of the soap opera, playing Raquel’s father Salvador, who is kidnapped by his granddaughter María de Fatima.

Among the cast is ‘Maria du Piero’ star

Mexican actress Itatí Cantoral played Raquel in the adaptation of “Vale tudo”. She is best known in Brazil for her role as the villain Soraya Montenegro in the soap opera “Maria do Beiro”.

Odette Roitman, the villain played by Beatrice Segal in the original version, gets a new name in the Telemundo version: Lucrezia Rodman. The role was played by Cuban actress Julie Montero.

In the original “Vale Tuto” (1988), Lila (Kasia Kiss) was Odette Roitman’s killer, butler Eugenio was framed for the crime in the adaptation.
