Football authorities have reportedly begun consultations and discussions regarding The first potential big changes to the way the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) works.. This information was published by the English newspaper “The Telegraph” on Friday.
However, these potential changes still need to be tested before they are implemented in football for good.
The Premier League Managers’ Association has reportedly spoken out in favor of changes to VAR. FIFA sets the rules for the functioning of national arbitration boards, such as those in England. Representatives of UEFA and other football federations could have participated in the talks on this topic.
The intention is for such recommendations to be presented to the Council before its general meeting scheduled for March next year. Former referee Howard Webb, who now heads English football’s professional refereeing team, is working to transition audio VAR technology.
