USDA: Soybean harvest begins in US, up 6% from last year

The USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) released its new weekly crop watch report with a slight improvement for corn crops, a slight decline in soybeans and updated harvest data for both crops.

SOY

64% of soybean fields are in good or better condition, up from 65% the previous week, but up 52% ​​from the same period last year. 25% of crops are in good condition and 11% in poor or very poor condition, up from 10% in the previous week.

The department said 6% of soybean acreage has already been harvested, up from 4% last year and an average of 3% over the past five years.

Corn

For corn, the USDA reported 65% of the crop was in good or better condition, up slightly from 64% the previous week. 23% of fields are in fair condition, compared to 24% last week, and another 12% are in poor or very poor condition, unchanged from the weekly comparison.

The report also indicated that the North American grain harvest has already reached the 9% mark, compared to 5% in the previous week, 8% in 2024 and an average of 6%.
