Barbosu and her team appealed to CAS, alleging that the request to review the results of the event was made after a one-minute time limit and that Chiles should not have scored 13.766, which took her to third place behind champion Rebecca Andrade. , from Brazil and silver medalist Simone Biles of the United States.
Chiles initially scored 13.666. Barbosu scored 13,700.
“A call in favor of Ms. Jordan Chiles in the women’s floor exercise final was made after a one-minute timeout,” CAS said.
“The preliminary score of 13.666 awarded to Ms. Jordan Chiles in the women’s floor exercise final should be reinstated.”
CAS further ordered the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) to determine the classification of the final and “award medal(s) as determined above.”
The result does not affect Andrade or Biles, who scored 14.166 and 14.133 respectively.
