US passenger boardings rose 17% in August

Recently released data from the US National Travel and Tourism Office (NTTO) shows that in August, total international air traffic, including departures and arrivals of Americans, was we In August it reached 23.4 million, an increase of 17% compared to the same month in 2022, with shipments reaching 95.7% of pre-pandemic volume in August 2019.

The total number of non-U.S. air passengers from foreign countries was 5.4 million, representing 21.3% growth from August 2022.

Furthermore, in the month analyzed, there were 128,668 Brazilians visiting the USA. That’s a slight decline compared to July, Brazil’s school holiday month, when 136,424 visitors from the country were in the North American destination.

  • Total passenger flights (arrivals and departures) between the United States and other countries were led by Mexico (3.184 million), Canada (2.859 million), United Kingdom (2.119 million), Germany (1.073 million) and the Dominican Republic (1.012 million);
  • International regional air travel to/from the United States:
    • The total number of passengers in Europe reached 7.571 million, an increase of 12.9% compared to August 2022, and a decrease of 8.3% compared to August 2019.
    • The total population of South/Central America/Caribbean was 5.555 million, an increase of 15.3% compared to August 2022 and an increase of 7.7% compared to the same month in 2019;
    • The total number of passengers in Asia reached 2.321 million, an increase of 67.7% compared to August 2022, but still a decrease of 34.8% compared to August 2019.
