Investing.com – United Kingdom equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and , and sectors propelled shares higher.
At the London close, the index advanced 0.94%.
The best performers of the session on the index came from shares of Rolls-Royce Holdings plc (LON: ), which rose 5.85% to trade at 29.00 points to trade at 525.00 at the close of trade. Meanwhile, stocks Fresnillo PLC (LON: ) added 4.53% or 25.50 points to trade at 588.50 at the end of the day. Antofagasta PLC (LON: ), which advanced 4.53% or 80.50 points to settle at 1,858.00.
The worst performers of the session were SSE PLC (LON: ), which fell 2.73% or 54.50 points to trade at 1,942.00 at the close. National grid PLC (LON: ) declined 2.62% or 27.50 points to end at 1023.00, and Vodafone Group plc (LON: ) traded down 2.46% or 1.92 points to 76.16.
On the London Stock Exchange, gainers outnumbered negatives by 1262 to 551, while 657 ended unchanged.

Gold futures for December delivery rose 0.65%, or 16.85, to settle at $2,615.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere, crude for November delivery rose 2.19%, or 1.53, to settle at $71.41 a barrel, while Brent crude futures for November delivery rose 1.91%, or 1.41, to $75.06 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.54% to 1.33 and EUR/GBP was up 0.24% to 0.84.
The dollar futures index was down 0.17% at 100.46.
