United Kingdom – Shares closed the session higher and the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 Index advanced 0.13% by Investing.com

Investing.com – United Kingdom equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.

At the London close, the index advanced 0.13%.

The best performers of the session on the index came from stocks The Smurfette Kappa Team PLC ( LON: ), which rose 4.81% to trade at 172.00 points at the close of the session at 3.00. Meanwhile, shares of Beazley PLC (LON: ) added 2.28% or 15.50 points to end the day at 696.50 while shares of Beazley PLC (LON: JD Sports Fashion PLC ( LON: ), which advanced 1.66% or 1.95 points to settle at 119.80.

The worst performers of the session were stocks Berkeley Group Holdings plc (LON: ), which declined 6.31% or 316.00 points to trade at 4.00 at their close. Secro Plc (LON: ) declined 3.00% or 27.60 points to end at 891.20 and Sproax-Sarco Engineering PLC (LON: ) declined 2.89% or 250.00 points to 8.00.

Decliners outnumbered advancers on the London Stock Exchange by 922 to 755, while 715 ended unchanged.

Beazley PLC (LON: ) shares hit all-time high; 2.28% or 15.50 up to 696.50.

Gold futures for August delivery were down 0.08%, or 1.80, at $2.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, crude for August delivery was down 0.02%, or 0.02, at $80.69 a barrel, while Brent crude futures for August delivery were down 0.02%, or 0.02, at $85.31 a barrel.

GBP/USD was unchanged 0.14% at 1.27 and EUR/GBP was up 0.04% at 0.84.

The dollar futures index, meanwhile, rose 0.06% to 104.82.
