Amazon’s partnership with artificial intelligence startup Anthropic will not be referred for an in-depth investigation because it does not fall under its jurisdiction, the British competition regulator said this Friday (27).
The UK Competition and Markets Authority said the partnership, which included a $4 billion investment in Amazon’s Anthropic, did not qualify for investigation under UK merger regulations.
“We welcome the UK Competition and Markets Authority’s decision, which recognizes its lack of jurisdiction over this collaboration,” an Amazon spokesperson said in response to the regulator’s decision.
