The United Kingdom sent ten tonnes of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip for the second time in less than a week on Friday, amid warnings that Gazans are facing imminent famine.
“The UK is doing everything necessary to get as much food as possible to Gaza. The airdrop will deliver more than 10 tonnes of food to citizens in need,” British Defense Minister Grant Shabbs said.
The Minister also thanked the Royal Air Force (RAF) and the British Army. “We will continue to seek every opportunity to provide aid to Gaza by air, sea and land,” he said.
An RAF A400M aircraft flew from the Jordanian capital Amman to Gaza to deliver supplies. Packages include rice, flour, oil, baby food, tinned food and water.
The RAF has already dropped another ten tonnes of supplies into the Palestinian territories on Monday in an international aid operation led by Jordanian officials, who are planning the mission in “close co-operation” with London.
More than 32,600 people have been killed since October 7, 2023, following attacks by the Israeli army in the Palestinian territories, authorities in the Gaza Strip announced this Friday.
