The coins will have four stamps, including the Hogwarts Express, Professor Albus Dumbledore, and a picture of the Potter and Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the first book’s release, the British agency responsible for printing coins and banknotes, the Royal Mint, has announced that the famous magician will stamp a series of UK coins, including the 50 cent.
Released in 1997, the seven-volume series chronicles the adventures and path of young wizard Harry Potter at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Therefore, the celebration refers to the resounding success of the first book, which reached hundreds of millions of dollars, while the eight films sold billions.
The coins will have four stamps, including the Hogwarts Express, Professor Albus Dumbledore, and a picture of the Potter and Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
The coins have a visual effect that simulates the “lightning bolt” effect when rotated in the light. This “magical” effect is achieved with a modern laser, which also allows the parts to be protected and certified, as the company specifies.
Pieces in the collection presented by the Royal Mint on Thursday include two stamped with a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, who died last month, and two others with an official portrait of King Charles III, according to the same statement.
