Uber announces a new type of travel in Brazil; know more

At a recent event in Sao Paulo, Uber revealed plans to expand many services in Brazil. Among them are Uber Green, an all-electric and carbon-neutral travel alternative, and Uber Health, both already deployed by O Globo. In addition, the company plans to increase the presence of taxis on its app, thanks to the collaboration with Stuo.

According to information from Olhar Digital, Dara Khosrowshahi, Uber’s global CEO, made the announcement after a meeting with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The goal is to make Uber Green and Uber Health available in Brazil, as well as to increase the number of taxis on the app.

The news comes in the same month that Uber celebrates a decade of operations in Brazil. It is worth noting that the announced services are already available in other countries such as the United States of America. Uber Green, for example, is part of Uber’s global commitment to becoming increasingly sustainable and environmentally friendly every year.

The Uber Green option is supposed to offer Brazilians the possibility of choosing an electric or hybrid car for their trips. However, the company has not yet set a specific date for implementing the service.

It is important to note that Uber aims for its rides to be 100% emissions-free by 2040. Brazil was one of the few markets that did not yet have an Uber Green option. “We will launch Uber Green in São Paulo in the coming months. It is a product that many users have requested, and the driver saves fuel. We want to encourage the driver base to accelerate this transformation,” the company said.

Uber Health, in turn, targets healthcare companies. The new function will allow sectoral entities, such as laboratories and hospitals, to request non-emergency trips for patients undergoing medical treatment. Laboratory staff will also be able to use the option to conduct tests and administer vaccines at home.

In Brazil, Uber also announced an investment of R$1 billion over the next five years to expand the Technology Center, a unit located in São Paulo that develops app solutions globally.

To celebrate 10 years of its presence in Brazil, the company honored its partner drivers with the “10 Years Cup” and awarded a prize of R$ 10,000 in recognition. More drivers should benefit by the end of the year. In addition, a special package worth R$10 million has been made available to support driver partners in Rio Grande do Sul.
