U.S. tractor sales fell in November, while combine sales rose, according to data from the Equipment Manufacturers Association. Used farm tractor sales fell 21% last month to 13,764 units, AEM said in a statement.
Sales of two-wheel drive tractors of less than 40 horsepower declined, down 28% to 8,266 vehicles. Sales of those with 40 to 100 horsepower fell 11% to 4,055 units, while sales of those above 100 horsepower rose 6.2%, the association said. Four-wheel drive tractor sales increased by 7.1% to 165.
Meanwhile, AEM reported consolidated sales up 8.3% to 314 vehicles. Monthly data follows year-to-date data. Since the start of the year, two-wheel drive tractor sales have declined 15%, led by a 19% drop in lower-horsepower units. Sales of tractors with 40 to 100 horsepower fell 11%, while those with 100 or more horsepower rose 13%, the report said.
All-wheel drive sales fell 6%. AEM said in its report that consolidated sales rose 16% to 6,535 units since January 1. According to the National Weather Service, snow, ice and wind close interstates and make travel treacherous as winter storms hit the West Cornfield and Northern Plains.
