Drone footage shows the devastation caused by the tornado in the US state of Nebraska.
The event, which also hit Iowa, toppled homes and trees and left about 10,000 homes and businesses without power, the Associated Press reported.
Many were injured, but there were no fatalities.
A tornado warning remained in effect until Friday evening, according to the National Weather Service More than 60 reports to 1:30 a.m. Brasilia time in five US states.
The tornado passed mainly through rural parts of Iowa and Nebraska.

Before the typhoon hit, the government issued emergency warnings to people to protect themselves and seek shelter.
