Google Search gained integration with Bard in Brazil today, and more tools incorporating generative AI are arriving. According to the Robot bodyBard can now create summaries and extract information from YouTube videos so you can find the answer you need without pressing the play button.
Google announced the new feature in the list of Bard updates, which is as follows:
We’re taking the first steps in Bard’s ability to understand YouTube videos. For example, if you’re looking for videos on how to make a cake, you can now also ask how many eggs the recipe calls for in the first video.
To get started, just ask Bard about the score in a YouTube video, citing it as best you can, because it’s not yet possible to directly paste a video URL to ask for information about it.
Tests conducted by The Verge show that the tool works very well, indicating recipe ingredients and summaries with accurate information from YouTube videos.
However, YouTube creators should be concerned about this feature, as with it people will not need to watch their videos to get the information in them, which could reduce the number of views and monetization through ads.
Google and YouTube have not yet revealed how they handle the videos Bard consulted, but content creators are expected to receive compensation for the AI’s information gathering.
In addition, Google also needs to clarify whether the sites that provide information to Bard will also receive some revenue as the AI provides the information directly, so users will no longer open the sites, see the ads on them and get the full answers.
