This Wednesday afternoon (16), the Consul General of the US Embassy in Recife-PE visited the Federal University of Piau (UFPI) and was welcomed by Vice Rector Viriato Campelo, along with other officials of the institution. The visit took place in the main hall of the temple. “This visit broadens our ties with the United States, with the aim of discussing the current political situation and its impact on our university, and thinking about future partnerships,” the vice-chancellor said. “We seek to promote the internationalization of UFPI, improving teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels,” he added.

US Ambassador to Recife Jessica Simon highlighted the history of partnership between her country and UFPI, always aiming to advance education. “We already have a long history with the university, and we are here today to learn more about its mission to education and its relationship with the Brazilian federal government, thinking about more partnerships between Brazil and the United States”, he said.

Juliana Castello Franco, international advisor of UFPI, said at the time: “Our university has good foreign relations and our international relations department has already worked to strengthen new partnerships, especially with the United States”.

After the reception, UFPI officials met with the US Embassy in Recife. Professors, Center Directors and other institute officials participated in the meeting.
