The United Kingdom will require an electronic visa (eVisa) for foreigners wishing to enter its territory from 27 November 2024. The process will be completely digital without the need to visit embassies or consulates, and is part of an effort to modernize immigration. policies and strengthening control over British borders.
An eVisa must be applied for online before travel, requiring travelers to provide personal information and details of the reason for their visit. The change directly affects Brazilians, who previously did not require a visa for short trips to the UK.
Mateus Egidio, CEO and co-founder of YOUVISA, BeFly’s founding partner, explained that digitization makes the process easier, although the process requires more planning. “Pre-planning is necessary now, but digitization brings practicality. It’s a natural evolution, guaranteeing greater control over who enters and exits countries,” Egidio said.
Since Brexit in 2020, the United Kingdom has made significant changes to its migration policies, and eVisa is part of this initiative. The implementation of e-visa will be gradual, starting with countries that already have short-stay visa exemptions and expanding to other countries over time.
“With eVisa, we are not only talking about a new rule, but a new way of thinking about international travel”, highlights Egidio. He emphasized that Uvisa It is ready to assist Brazilians in this transition and ensure a smooth adaptation to the new requirements. eVisa analysis should occur quickly with responses within days of the request.
Furthermore, the new eVisa system should provide greater security for both travelers and the United Kingdom, providing stricter controls over those entering the country. The British government hopes that the change will ease the process for tourists and professionals, while also helping to monitor and manage migration flows.
