The UK's regular bus company, National Express West Midlands (NXWM), announced last week that it will also sell regular bus tickets on the app in partnership with Uber.
Now, it is possible to buy single, daily and weekly tickets and combine bus and car travel.
The technology integration between the bus company's platform and the Uber application is being done by London-based technology firm Massabi.
The commercial director of National Express for United Kingdom and Ireland, in a statement to the local press, said that the partnership with Uber started in 2022 and now, it is another step taken towards integrating different modes of transport.
Masabi's CEO, Brian Zanghi, said new partnerships of this type could emerge.
“The latest development builds on the ongoing partnership between NXWM and Masabi since the launch of the mTicket app in 2016, leading to a student-focused smart ticket scheme in 2018, digitizing cash to purchase tickets at retail locations in 2021. UK's buses on buses in 2023. Believed to be the largest mobile QR code ticket reading system. – says a joint statement from Uber, Masabi and National Express West Midlands (NXWM).
