Davis is considered one of the nation’s leading environmental policy experts, with more than 25 years of experience on nature and climate change.The British Environment Ministry said in a statement.
When the UK hosted COP26 in Glasgow in 2021, it helped achieve a global commitment to end deforestation signed by 145 countries.
Although Ruth Davies is already working as a conservationist at the United Kingdom delegation, the post of special envoy, reporting to the environment and foreign affairs ministries, will be considered later this month.

The announcement of Davies’ appointment comes after British Foreign Secretary David Lammy announced last month that Rachel Kite would be the UK’s special envoy for climate change.
The 16th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity, also known as COP16, is being held in the Colombian city of Cali from today to November 1 under the theme “At Peace with Nature”.
