The technology to make any bus electric is available in the UK

There is no doubt that the decarbonisation of transport has become the biggest challenge in the automotive sector. Electrification is seen as a way to green even large vehicles like buses.

However, investing in new models is not feasible for many companies. With this in mind, Kleinbus specializes in one process Re-energizing. This is a low-cost solution that allows you to completely replace a diesel engine with an electric one.

The British company has provided the first details on how its modular platform works. “The plan is to provide a faster and more efficient path to zero emissions by making buses cleaner and quieter,” said Joe Dike, co-founder and CEO of CleanBus.

According to Kleinbus, its platform combines first-class electric motors with its own integration technology. With this approach, the company says it gets the most out of components that include a variety of batteries.

Ultimately, the idea is to create systems tailored to the needs of bus companies. The restoration project consists of a thorough assessment of each vehicle, as well as digitization of the interior and creation of bespoke designs. Later, the electric motor is installed with new tests and final certification.

The company points out that the entire process costs about a fifth of the cost of an electric bus and takes less than two weeks per vehicle. After the conversion the operating cost is also reduced by one third as compared to diesel buses.
