The target of the PF operation, an army colonel in the US, surrendered

Brazilian Army Colonel Bernardo Romao Correa Neto (Special photo), one of the targets of the Federal Police's mega-operation Tempus Veritatis (Federal Police), this Thursday (8/2), after finding out about the pending arrest warrant against him.

The man under investigation has been identified as one of the members of a group that attempted to stage a coup in the country and annul the outcome of the 2022 elections.

Bernardo has been appointed to participate in a mission in the United States until June 2025, in the city of Washington DC – all expenses of the Brazilian military command – found in the Na Mira column.

The interrogated man's stay on foreign soil for another year and a half, added to the circumstances of the mission post – released only at the end of the government of Jair Bolsonaro (PL) – proves strong evidence that Bernardo would have taken steps to avoid it. Investigations and, consequently, the application of the criminal law. For the PF, these facts justify the order of detention of the soldier.

The investigation identified that Bernardo Mauro acted as Cit's confidant and performed tasks that the then presidential aide could not do because of his position.
