oh British Government This Thursday announced that the public funds allocated to King Charles III It will be halved on a percentage basis from 2024. The budget given to the British monarch by the government is called the Sovereign Grant, which aims to finance the official duties of the House of Windsor.
In percentage terms, the budget would be calculated at 12%, not 25%, of the profits of the Crown Estate, the agency that managed Charles III’s public assets, land and property. The estates are not part of the monarch’s personal estate or government property, but serve as the basis for calculating the royal budget. With the new contribution percentage, it is estimated that in 2024, royalties will no longer receive 24 million pounds (R$ 148.5 million, at current exchange rates).
In 2025 and 2026, the drop in supply will be even greater. The British government indicated that 130 million pounds (R$ 804 million) would be cut each year. The change was introduced following a significant increase in Crown Estate profits in recent months. In January, the British monarch had already asked that profits from wind farms go to the public, not royalties.
