From year to year, scientific knowledge in the fields of biology or genetics provides medicine with new tools. Cures for diseases that were incurable a few decades ago are now within the reach of scientists and clinicians. In a matter of short months, a vaccine could have been found to overcome the damage of COVID-19 and turn a dreaded epidemic into a controllable one. Life expectancy continues to increase. How far will this progress go? What are the consequences that will occur and will be on human nature? Such findings and questions entered the everyday life of scientists and, in general, people’s hopes and interests.
PSuperior will discuss these and other issues on Monday in another issue of PSSuperior محادثات Talks, in partnership with Pharmaceutical Bial and Nova Medical School. Together, and managed by PÚBLICO Science and Environment Editor, Teresa Firmino, Bruno Dias, in charge of the medical department at Biel Portugal, and Helena Canhao, director of the Nova Medical School, Joao Gonzalez, will be a sixth-year student of the integrated school. PSuperior is a media literacy project developed by PÚBLICO and a network of partners (Fidelidade, Porto Editora, Mediabrands, NTT Data, Fuel, Google, Fundação José Neves and Bial) and is now in its third edition. In addition to ensuring free access to all texts in the digital version through the delivery of signatures, PSuperior intends to engage finalist students from various public and private higher education courses on the great topics of today, with quality journalism serving as a medium.
