A fun clip, which you can see below, shows a player defeating a Tree Sentinel doing practically nothing, remaining sitting on top of a rock most of the time.

Using Spirit Ashes at the beginning of the confrontation, the player was able to watch the fight from a distance, and only at the end did the tree guard seem to notice his presence. So, as you can see in the video, it only took one hit to defeat the boss.
