For the US, “now is the time” for the parties to begin “negotiations for a dignified and peaceful transition” in Venezuela. “Persistent attempts to fraudulently claim victory [Nicolás] “Maduro will make the current crisis worse,” he added in a statement.
The OAS and the EU are talking
In a statement, the OAS (Organization of American States) General Secretariat said it “categorically rejects” the decision of the Court’s Electoral Chamber.. “This Secretariat reiterates CNE [Conselho Nacional Eleitoral] Maduro hastily announced based on a partial bulletin issued orally, without providing numbers and disaggregated results that presented mathematical inefficiencies,” the text reads.
The OAS speaks of TSJ’s “opaqueness”: “Whose behavior is promoting conspiracy theories and making pronouncements and statements without any documentary support, at all times, evading citizen scrutiny and impartial verification.”
Venezuelan dictator “justified” election process, international body says. “To get a stamp of ‘legitimacy’ from a biased court. An illegitimate president seeks ‘legitimacy’ in the powers of a dependent state,” the organization added.
