“I expect a very active participation from the Eletrobras,” Alexandre Silvera stated.
SAO PAULO (Reuters) – Mines and Energy Minister Alexandre Silvera said Thursday that he expects Eletrobras to be a major player in the transmission auction that will take place on Friday.
“I expect very active participation from Eletrobras. The news we have is that it will be a major player in some of the 26 pieces that will be shown tomorrow,” the minister said in an interview with CNN Brasil.
Silvera said the power transmission line auction, with an expected investment of 15.7 billion reais, will be the first of three that will unlock investments of about 200 billion reais in wind and solar power in Brazil. The event is also the first of 2023.
He added that he hoped there would be strong participation from foreign companies, saying he was “absolutely convinced” by the participation of the Chinese state network, Spain’s Iberdrola Group, Energias Portugal (EDB) and “many other players”.
According to a press release from the ministry, this is one of the largest auctions ever held in the history of concessions for the Public Electricity Transmission Service.
