Following the formalization of the Mutual Cooperation Agreement with Governor Ratinho Jr. on June 17, US Ambassador to Brazil Todd Chapman met with Fos do Igua Chico Brasilro this Sunday (20) to discuss a number of issues. Among them, he had the opportunity to support a direct flight between Fos do Iguazu and Miami.
This is the second time in a month that Chapman has visited Fos do Igua. On May 27 and 28, he was in town to learn about the Itaipu plant and the environmental activities of Iguazu Falls. Chapman was accompanied by a group of eight other ambassadors to the municipality at the invitation of Mining and Energy Minister Pento Albuquerque, as well as Brazilian Director-General Jano Francisco Ferreira of Itaipu.
At the time, the US ambassador was intrigued by what he saw. Mayor Chico Brasilro attended the dinner with a group of ambassadors. During the visit, Chapman said Brazil was a key partner in creating a sustainable future.
During his visit on Sunday, Chico Brasilro wanted to keep in mind the US Ambassador Fos do Igua, not only to Igua Falls, but also to welcome the people and all the richness of the local natural environment. The mayor asked for support to promote the Igua National Park in support of the conservation of biodiversity, which has a large diversity of animal and plant species, some of which are endangered.
Regarding the Foss-Miami-Foss flight, Mayor Chico Brasilro recently asked Chapman for help in transforming the expanded local airport into an international aviation hub, which can now provide long-haul flights to Europe and North America. .
