LIGHT brings together Brazilian executives from various sectors with the aim of strengthening free enterprise and the country’s development, while defending ethical principles of governance in the public and private sectors.
Participating in the launch of the Light Brazil Conference will be Brazil’s Ambassador to London, Fred Arruda; Senator President, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG); United Kingdom Minister of State for International Business and Trade, Nusrat Ghani; President of Lide UK, Breno Silva; British Member of Parliament Marco Longhi; and Luis Fernando Furlan, president of Lyde.
Former governor of São Paulo João Doria, founder and vice president of Grupo de Líderes Empresariais (Lide), emphasizes the interest of the manufacturing sector in economic and social issues in Brazil.
“The Light Brazil Conference – London repeats the success of the events held in New York, in 2022, and in Lisbon, in 2023. This meeting will bring together hundreds of leading names from the business and public sector regarding issues related to Brazil. This event will better inform international investors about the situation in Brazil in terms of economic and social issues. Explains,” Doria researched.
Brazil’s ambassador to London, Fred Arruda, said Brazil and the United Kingdom are strong democracies and maintain close ties. At the Osvaldo Cruz Foundation, he recalls Brazil helping develop clinical trials for the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine against Covid-19.

One of the cores of the bilateral relationship between Brazil and the UK is sustainable development and clean energy, said Nusrat Ghani, Minister of State for Business and International Trade of the United Kingdom.
“We must address climate change by expanding clean energy and prosperity, undermined by the invasion of Ukraine’s president. [da Rússia] Putin. We want to continue to work together, and Brazil is an energy superpower, the biggest producer of hydropower on the planet, the UK is a leader in wind power and a center for carbon and hydrogen capture technology. Together, our countries can develop green infrastructure,” he said.
British MP and Prime Minister’s Ambassador Marco Longhi defended the ratification of the bilateral tax treaty between the two countries. “The bilateral agreement was important because it allowed companies to keep those profits. Obviously, if you want to make a profit in the UK and take it to Brazil, you avoid double taxation. It’s a sign that we want to move forward and have a meaningful relationship. Our countries need to ratify this agreement,” ‘ said.
For Lide’s chairman, the potential for increased trade between Brazil and the United Kingdom is high. Bureaucracy is European. It should accelerate and go very fast. We have been negotiating the EU-Mercosur agreement for 22 years. It was signed 2 years ago but needs to be ratified by all member states. There are 28 countries.
