Amid high demand for registrations, which meant that the last available in-person places sold out in less than 15 minutes, the 5th National Science, Technology and Innovation Conference (5CNCTI), the premier forum for discussions on public issues, was held. The country’s science and technology policies can also be followed online and with the issuance of a certificate.
The conference will take place on July 30-31 and August 1 at Espaço Brasil 21 in Brasilia, and will be attended by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who will attend the opening, as well as seven ministers, who will attend the opening. He will be present at the plenary and other sessions. The full schedule is available now.
Those interested in following the event online must register on the 5CNCTI website. To obtain the certificate, the participant must indicate when filling out the data that they wish to obtain the document. The certificate will be delivered only to those who have completed and confirmed their registration on the website.
Online participation will follow the same format as in-person participation, i.e. with the possibility of active participation in proposing policy recommendations at the meeting. The proposals will form the new national strategy for science, technology and innovation, due to be implemented by 2030, as well as an action plan for the next ten years.
Another way to follow the meeting is via YouTube live streaming from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) – however, the certificate will only be awarded to registered participants through the online form.
Among the topics that the conference will address is presenting a plan on artificial intelligence, in addition to discussions on science’s warnings about climate change, energy transition paths, an overview of science financing, policies to support innovation in companies, the challenges of the demographic transition, and others. The theme of this edition is “Science, Technology and Innovation for a Fair, Sustainable and Advanced Brazil”.
The Fifth National Conference on Science, Technology and Innovation is the most important event aimed at participation and discussion about public policies in this sector. The meeting takes place after a 14-year hiatus and is held by MCTI, organized by the Center for Administrative and Strategic Studies (CGEE) and sponsored by Banco do Brasil and Finep.
Before reaching the national stage, more than 70,000 people participated in 221 preparatory events for 5CNCTI in the past six months – including regional, state, municipal, free and thematic conferences. This number is a record in the history of the event, which has previously participated in four editions.
