Going through immigration at Changi Airport Singapore It should get easier in 2024. This is because its immigration system will be automated to eliminate the need to present passports. With this change, passengers will be able to leave Singapore and go through immigration using only biometric data.
“Singapore will be one of the first countries in the world to introduce automatic immigration clearance without a passport,” Communications Minister Josephine Teo announced during a parliamentary session in which several amendments to the country’s immigration law were approved.
Changi Airport already has biometric technology and facial recognition software in the automated lanes for immigration control. He explained that the new features will reduce “the need for travelers to repeatedly submit travel documents and will allow for simpler and more convenient processing.”

With the new use of biometrics, it will be used to create a “single authentication code” for multiple automated touchpoints – from bag drop to immigration clearance and boarding. In this way, it will be possible to eliminate the need for physical travel documents, such as boarding passes and passports.
Changi Airport is considered one of the best airports in the world. It has four terminals and another terminal is expected to be built. In June, there were more than 5.12 million passengers.
