The government can allow anticipation of FGTS up to R$1,000

In an effort to jumpstart the Brazilian economy, the federal government may authorize the anticipation of the Stop Compensation Fund (FGTS). The authorized amount for withdrawal can be up to 1000 BRL. According to the proposal, the issuance could lead to the transfer of more than 30 billion Brazilian reals in the Brazilian economy.

Expectations indicate that the advance withdrawal of part of the maturity will be issued later this year. Thus, with the flexibility of the procedure, another new rule will allow access to the funds in each worker’s fund.

Proposal to pay FGTS Expert opinion is divided. Some believe this is wrong, as the FGTS should only be used as a guarantee for the worker in the event of dismissal without just cause. Or even as a supplier for your home purchase.

Thus, the release of funds could give the FGTS an unrecommended destination. On the other hand, there are those who argue that anticipation is a good idea, because stopping money doesn’t pay off. In addition to being an amount that the worker should actually use when needed.

But with the FGTS projection project, about 40 million workers will be able to receive sums of between 500 and 1,000 R$. Nothing has been decided yet, but this measure has been thought of as a good way to get the Brazilian economy moving, especially in the face of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The open point in the proposal is how much the government would need to release to make this advance payment from the FGTS.
