Designer Bruce Nesmith, a former Bethesda developer who worked on games like Skyrim, highlighted how Starfield 2 has the potential to be a great game. According to him, the developer will learn from the mistakes and will be able to improve elements of the first game, making the second part (if it exists) a better game.
During an interview with the portal VideoGamerNesmith highlighted the advantage that Bethesda’s Skyrim has by drawing on lessons learned from games like Oblivion and Morrowind. For him, with Starfield 2, Bethesda will be able to solve problems and add new things.
“I’m looking forward to Starfield 2. I think it will be a great game, because it will fix a lot of things that people say “it’s almost done”, “it’s missing a bit”. the [Bethesda] It will be able to take what already exists and add many things, correcting many of these problemsBruce commented.
Bruce Nesmith served as lead designer on Skyrim. He highlighted the importance of using lessons learned from Oblivion, making Skyrim a better game. “All we had to do was keep improving and adding new things“.
Likewise, the strategy also reduced the time to develop sequences. “We are not starting from scratch. If we had to start from scratch, it would take another two or three years of development time“.
Will Bethesda release Starfield 2?
Bethesda is proud of Starfield and after the release of Shattered Space, it should continue with at least one more major expansion, according to Todd Howard’s comments. The title pleased many people, but received a lot of criticism from players, such as the lack of ground vehicles at launch.
the Bethesda has not given any hint about the existence of Starfield 2. The company’s former developer follows the logic of how sequels tend to learn from the mistakes of the first game, and improve as they progress.
We could see this happen in a direct sequel like Naughty Dog’s Uncharted. With each game, Nathan Drake’s adventure became bigger and the studio tried to improve the game and provide a better product.
If Bethesda does indeed create Starfield 2 one day, they have the game base ready in their hands and they know exactly what they need to improve. If they implement player feedback, Nesmith may be right and the next game will reach the full potential of the IP.
