The documentary “Biocentrics” by Fernanda Heinz Figueiredo (“Sementes do Nosso Quintal”) and Ataliba Benaim (“Saúde S/A”) will be screened for free on Thursday (9), at 8 pm, at Una Belas Artes . Passwords will be distributed one hour before the start of the session.

The film shows how American biologist and activist Janine Benius influenced the work of ecologists, architects, designers, chemists, engineers and biologists by creating biomimicry – an innovative scientific methodology that seeks inspiration in the evolution of life on Earth. Solve the most important problems of contemporary humanity.

Narrated by Janine herself “Biocentrics” reveals the scientific motives and theories behind the thinking of biomimulators, as the brilliant inventors in this science are called. Accompanying the routines of nine characters in their fields, the film intertwines their stories with images of nature in their completeness, detailing the modus operandi of the Hundred Year Tree, which goes beyond simply providing shade or serving as material for buildings, to evolving strategies for specific species of plants and animals to survive.

The film, which had its world premiere at the 46th Mostra Internacional de Cinema in São Paulo, opens in theaters in several Brazilian capitals on March 16, including Belo Horizonte. “Biocentrics” is a production by Aiuê, a production company that has been working for more than 10 years with the thematic tripod of sustainability, education and culture, in co-production with Globonews, Globo Filmes and Spcine. The movie was made possible by Kurta! Through the Audiovisual Sectoral Fund (FSA). Distribution in cinemas is carried out by Aiuê in partnership with Espaço Filmes.
