Documentary Ellis and Tom, I just had to be with you, Which goes behind the scenes of the classic Brazilian album recorded in Los Angeles, US, will premiere tomorrow, November 15, on the country’s major digital rental platforms (more details below). The film is directed by Roberto de Oliveira and Jumtop Azoulay, and distributed by O2 Filmes’ subsidiary O2 Play.

Ellis and Tom, they should have been with you It is an immersive cinematic experience that takes the viewer behind the scenes of one of the most famous albums in Brazilian popular music – one that was so dramatic and tense that the project was almost abandoned.

In the documentary, the audience is taken on a journey through time, participating in moments of struggle but also of pure joy, revealing intimate moments of the creative process and the extraordinary personalities of these artists. The production is also an emotional reunion between the director, artists, and material filmed nearly five decades ago.

Ellis and Tom, they should have been with you It is produced by Rinoceronte Entretenimento and co-produced by Riofilme, an organization affiliated with the Municipal Ministry of Culture. Sponsored by the City of Rio de Janeiro, Secretariat of Municipal Culture, co-sponsored by Río Galeão, and supported by União Brasileira de Compositores – UBC and Universal Music Group. The work relied on public resources managed by the National Cinema Agency – ANCINE, the Regional Development Bank of the Far South – BRDE and the Fund for the Audiovisual Sector – FSA.
