After some leaks and the release of some official images from Peugeot, we finally know the new E-3008. The electric medium SUV appears for the first time in its third generation with the appearance of a Fiat Fastback and the debut of the new STLA Medium platform from Stellantis, which we will see in the future in the Jeep Compass and other medium cars in the group.
The highlight is the new platform, which, in addition to electric cars, will also be able to receive hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains. This will also happen with the new Peugeot 3008, which will be offered in these versions in the future.
Furthermore, the new platform has allowed the SUV to grow, as it now measures 4.5 meters in length. The wheelbase has grown by 64 mm compared to the previous generation, reaching 2.74 metres. Those who are grateful are the passengers in the back seat, who will get a big gain in space.
Not only in terms of size, but the appearance of the 3008 has also been nicely redesigned. Now it’s a coupe SUV, just like the Fiat Fastback and Volkswagen Nivus. However, if you look from the front, you can still see something of the previous generation, even with the slim full LED headlights and redesigned fangs. The grille features a 3D checkered effect, giving the impression of being open, but in fact it is closed – as is the case on most electric cars.
The taillights are also thin and connected by a black strip, as are the headlights. The difference is that on the back it has the brand name, while on the front it has the name of the car. The well-defined crease in the shape of an inverted “V” gives the 3008 the impression of greater width.
The magic, of course, is the “fastback” body fit, which ends with a wing. All of this gives a sporty air that SUVs won’t have much of. Its performance figures, released by Peugeot, are only reasonable, as the focus will be on autonomous driving.
In its basic version, it is called Electric 210, which, as the name suggests, will have a power of 210 hp and 35 kg/min, while the battery capacity is 73 kWh and can reach 525 km on a single charge. In this model, the E-3008 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.7 seconds.
The medium version is for those who want more range. Called the Electric 230 Long Range, it also has a front-only motor, but with 20 more horsepower and the same torque as the Electric 210. Its assets are the larger, 98 kWh battery, which offers a range of up to 700 kilometres. However, as it gets heavier, the greater power only mitigates the drop in performance, with the 0-100km/h time rising to 8.9 seconds.
At the top of the range is the Electric 320. It is the only all-wheel drive car, as it has an electric motor on the rear axle with 110 hp, which together with the front reaches a total power of 320 hp. Combined torque was not mentioned, but we know that the additional 17kg/min is on top of the front motor’s 35kg/min.
This version will have the same battery and a range of up to 525 kilometers as the base version. It does improve in performance, with the 0-100km/h time down to 6.7 seconds.

Peugeot will offer conventional and hybrid versions in the near future. Possibly, since they share the same platform, we might have clues as to what we’ll see in the next-generation Jeep Compass, scheduled for launch from 2025 onwards.
The interior of the new 3008 is a highlight in itself. The automaker is debuting the latest evolution of the i-Cockpit, which features its own 21-inch panoramic display mounted on the dashboard, serving as both the instrument panel and the multimedia center.
The main controls, located in the center of the panel, just below the main screen, are called i-toggles. These are customizable buttons, which means you decide their functions. Below, on the large suspended center console are some physical buttons that regulate the air conditioning, while at the bottom is the induction charger. There is no shift lever or rotary gear selector, this system has been changed to a switch on the right side of the steering wheel.
For passenger comfort, the finish is made entirely of fabric, while the seats have a combination of Alcantara and leather. Still talking about the seats, they have a heating and cooling system and can also get adaptive side bolsters, which inflate or deflate depending on who’s sitting.
The E-3008 is also equipped with the full driver assistance package. This includes adaptive cruise control, lane keeping and lane change assistants, fatigue detection, a blind spot sensor with a range of up to 75 metres, hill descent control and autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection operating at speeds up to 140 km/h.
According to Peugeot, the E-3008 will make its European debut in February. The brand will start selling the basic electric version, as well as another hybrid version, which will be detailed soon. Electric and other plug-in versions are scheduled to arrive in the second half of 2024.
