Writer and director Todd Phillips shared the first look at Joaquin Phoenix in the sequel to “Joker” (2019), one of DC Comics’ most successful films.
In one of his Instagram posts, Phillips wrote: “Day 1. Our boy. #Joker.” In the photo, the actor is shown lying shirtless while another man shaves.
According to the Deadline website, the new feature, titled “Joker: Folie à Deux” (“Joker: Madness for Two,” with free subtitles), hits theaters in the United States on October 4, 2024.
“Joker 2” will bring back Joaquin Phoenix as the most iconic villain in the Batman universe – which earned him the Academy Award for Best Actor in 2020. To convince him to return to the character, the production had to come up with a hefty salary raise for the translator.
Lady Gaga is also confirmed to be in the cast. It will give life to Harley Quinn, the Joker’s sidekick, who has lived with Margot Robbie in other recent DCU films. So the sequence must narrate the meeting of the two murders.
In the comments of the writer and director posted, in addition to paying tribute to Joaquin Phoenix, fans also requested pictures of Gaga as Harley Quinn. One netizen wrote: “And our girl?” And another post, “Waiting for Gaga.”
“Prone to fits of apathy. Problem solver. Twitter buff. Wannabe music advocate.”
