Meetings were held in Brasilia on Thursday at the initiative of Ednaldo with Gustavo Figo and the president of the Sao Paulo Football Association, Reynaldo Carneiro Bastos, and mediated by the president of the chamber, Arthur Lira.
Ednaldo says the opposition sought him, and the opposition says it was the CBF president who sought an agreement. In fact, there was a reference to a possible agreement between the two parties. According to the potential arrangement, he would not be a candidate for president, but he might hold a position on the board of directors, perhaps as vice president.
“When I was contacted, it was with the goal of unification. The goal was to unify the ticket and for the team to be the winner, and with a win there will be no competition as happened. Brazilian football needs peace. We have a strong group of players.” “Unions,” said Ednaldo Rodriguez. “I have a separation.”
“(Vigo) Ednaldo called him to compose. (Ednaldo) said he had seven consortiums. He said there was space to compose, but he did not submit an application. We will submit it to our group. We are waiting. Evaluate whether he has seven consortiums,” said Flavio Zveter. Figo added: “You have to know if he has the seven associations.”
In chess of associations, Zveter and Viggo claim to have 15 associations in their group, which represents a majority of the total 27 associations. Ednaldo says he has more than seven federations, and that he will only give up his candidacy depending on who the candidate is.
What is certain is that if the two groups were merged, there could be more than 20 federations. This would therefore make any further nomination impossible, as eight entities would be needed to register a candidate, and that would be one ticket.
