Empowering girls through education. This is the goal of the Astrominas Project, of the University of São Paulo (USP), which is open for registration until June 7th. There are 600 places for young people between the ages of 14 and 17 who can access the Internet. This is the second version of the initiative.
From June 28 to July 23, participants will experiment and produce wall paintings, in addition to incorporating conversation sessions, discussions on universities and lectures on astronomy, geophysics, atmospheric sciences, ocean sciences, mathematics, physics, geosciences and chemistry. Places will be distributed proportionally, with 20% for black, brown and indigenous students, 60% for students in public schools and 20% for private schools. Activities are free and will take place daily, Monday through Friday, with an average of three hours per day.

The Astrominas project is coordinated by Professor Elysandra Figueredo Cypriano. The idea came from researchers at the University of the South Pacific Institute of Astronomy, Geophysics and Atmospheric Sciences, who wanted to attract more young people to the university.
The organizing committee also includes the participation of Professor Lilian Maria Suga, graduate students Daniel Onorato, Ivanes Avoglio Morgado, Marina Isabella and Pamela Quiredo.
