The UK Teachers’ Union is demanding that schools hold events with drag queens, to encourage children to have a different form of dialogue with students they identify as LGBT. Shortly after holding an annual conference, the National Education Union agreed on the title “Raising the Aspirations of LGBT+ Students in Our Schools.”
This conference emphasized the lack of inclusive education for students who identify as LGBT, and even spaces for students to discuss the topic and be able to learn about their true sexuality, but there are schools that refuse to accept this new law.
So for people who want to support this new law, it creates a hostile environment for trans people and a new section that allows it to block the Scottish Gender Recognition Reform Act.
However, they say it is the education union’s duty to “publicly raise the dreams of LGBT+ students and encourage everyone to show a certain respect for LGBT+ people”, but creating spaces for these people will challenge “homophobia, biphobia and transphobia in schools”. “.
Finally, the National Education Union (NEU) emphasized that it is committed to sharing strategies to help members support success and create schools where all students are included.
