The Brazilian loses during the fourth heat, going for a rematch

Women’s surfing is the last attraction this Saturday, with 3 Brazilians out of 24 surfers divided into eight heats in this first stage. With four heats completed so far, Caroline Marks led the way in the first heat at Tehupo.
North American Caroline Marks won the first heat with 17.93 points. Sarah Baum from South Africa finished second with 8.47 points and advanced to the repechage. Portugal’s Yolanda Hopkins finished with a 7.0.
In the second heat, Peruvian Sol Aguirre, Spain’s Janir Gonzalez Edxabarri and France’s Vaughan Fierro battled it out. The host Vahine totaled 11.17 points and proved difficult to overturn during the round. Aguirre and Gonzalez are waiting to find their opponents in the repechage.
The third heat pitted Israel’s Anat Lelier, Canadian Sanoa Temple-Olin and Australian Tyler Wright. Wright, a two-time world champion, came out on top, even with a few waves, scoring 7.67 points.
During the fourth heat, Dottie Weston-Webb finished second. The Brazilian surfer finished the heat with 10.33, while North American Caitlin Simmers took first place with 12.93 and Australian Molly Picklum came in with 8.44.
